"Is this SIRIM-certified?" Lighting sold in Malaysia should meet SIRIM / ST COA safety standards. Grey imports are cheaper but risk flicker, early driver failure, and problems with insurance claims. A good shop answers instantly.
"Can I see it switched on?" A catalog photo cannot show the difference between 3000K and 4000K in a real room, CRI (how colours look), or fan noise at speed 5.
"Who handles the warranty claim — you or me?" The real test of a lighting shop is a claim in year two. Some shops make you deal with the supplier; better ones handle it for you.
"Do you keep my purchase records?" Matters when you extend a renovation three years later and need a matching downlight.
